Chapter-1
The Friend in the Pyramid
Continued…
In its center sat a pedestal holding a golden camel. Beneath it, an inscription read:
“Speak the truth, and the path shall open. Speak a lie and be lost forever.”
Fluffy’s mind raced. This is a test… it must be.
Taking a steady breath, she stepped closer.
“I seek only to help Sandy—not to steal or deceive.”
The golden camel glowed, then slowly rose into the air, revealing a spiral staircaseplunging downward.
“Here goes nothing”
Fluffy whispered and descended.
The staircase spiralled for what felt like forever.
Along the walls, murals depicted a hedgehog surrounded by swirling winds and glowing crystals.
“Sandy… what were you guarding down here?” she murmured. At the bottom, she found a circular chamber with three statues: a falcon holding a feather, a jackal clutching a bone, and a cobra coiled around a gem. Another inscription read:
“Choose the guardian of truth to ascend.”
Fluffy studied them, her tail flicking.
“Vision and clarity… death and the
underworld… cunning and protection…”
She reached up and gently took the feather from the falcon’s grasp. The chamber trembled, dust falling from the ceiling. a hidden doorway slid open, revealing a glowing, elevator-like platform. As she stepped onto it, the floor lifted smoothly upward. Along the walls, magical windows shimmered, revealing glimpses of Sandy—trapped in a crystal cage, swirling energy snapping around him.
“Hold on, Sandy!” Fluffy called.
“I’m almost there!”
Finally, she reached a narrow path ending
at a lock shaped like a falcon’s wing.
Without hesitation, she placed the feather
into the slot. Light burst from the lock, shattering the crystal prison. Sandy tumbled forward, shaking himself free.
“You… you actually made it!”
Sandy gasped, his voice half-disbelieving, half-grateful.
“No one’s ever beaten the pyramid’s trials.”
Fluffy smiled. “Guess there’s a first time for everything.”
Together, they descended the pyramid under a rising moon. Outside, King Humpy was waiting, and the group celebrated with fresh, sweet dates under the stars.
For the first time in days, Sandy laughed.
“I think I owe you more than just dates.”
“You can start,”
Fluffy said with a grin, “by telling me what those glowing crystals were about.”
