Eucharist and Unity

This is a small reflection on the article of June 1-15 issue of Light of Truth on Eucharist is a good reflection in relation to the Feast of Eucharist in the month of June. Spiritual and practical reflection on the four words –took, blessed, broke and gave – in the institutional words were spiritually enriching. It also helped me to think of the current discussion or dispute on the celebration of the Holy Mass in the Syro-Malabar Church. Jesus after breaking the bread gave to the followers to eat and to remember what is going to happen very soon in his earthily life; the passion and death or the self-denial. Why it becomes a matter of contention and dispute…. Is it not good to come together in the altar of Christ where the Pascal lamb is slain to celebrate and remember, to regain the spiritual strength without arguing? The Eucharist is to shape the very rhythm of our life in unity, relationship and in selfless sharing than enmity, rivalry and uncharitable defamation. It destroys the very purpose of the Eucharistic celebration. What I wished to say is that such articles on the Eucharist may give motivation to end the disputes and lead to unity than uniformity.
