The Bristish PM’s Oxford University sweetheart Laura Adshead turned to God after battling alcoholism and drugs.
Now she lives in an isolated con- vent taking part in a daily routine of prayers, mopping floors and looking after cattle.
Laura, 44, who worked with Cameron in the early 90s at the Tory party HQ, said: “I did think my life would progress on the normal tracks of meeting someone, marrying, having children, but that’s not the path that God has led me.
“I feel like I tried most things in life that are supposed to make you happy. That journey took me down into alcoholism and drug addiction.”
Laura and Cameron split after a year.
In 2008 she moved into the Abbey of Regina Laudia, a 400 acre farm in Connecticut in the US.
