I wish this Easter to be a feast of peace, tangible in every way. Being a holiday time there is crowd and loud merry all around. If only there is more depth to these joys with room for intuition, genuine concern for nature (avoiding plastics, junk food, and anti-Nature bodies), and attentive to driving rules! For the past nine months we come together in a small group on Wednesdays for Lectio Divina, to reflect and pray together on the Sunday Gospel readings. It has been the enriching experience to understand Gospel in the context of now and then. During the Lent the focus was to take the identity and responsibility bequeathed in Baptism in earnestness in the light of these Gospel texts. Pope Francis’ call to make a Passover of the creation (Message for Lent, 2019) has an added touch this time. Easter calls for sensibility to the uncared for in our homes, lanes and streets; to listen to the groans of victims of male ware of religious and political terrorism.
United with the crucified and risen Christ, like the wheat kern sown in the altar of selfless love, we become ourselves the bread for a world hungry for justice and peace, love and forgiveness. Dying to oneself begets love for others and genuine care of all of God’s creation.
