QUESTION:
What is your feeling when you retire? Do you have the satisfaction of having led the Archdiocese for four-teen years?
ANSWER:
Even after retire-ment, life goes on… You need to have a purpose in life, and that purpose has to continue. That purpose for me is the glory of God, which is what motivates me. Do something useful and carry on with life. I feel quite satisfied, because I did the best to my ability. I always had the feeling that it was the Lord who called me in spite of my unworthiness. For all those positions I have held as Principal, Pro-vincial Superior, and Consulting General in the Society in Rome, Bishop of Khandwa, and then Archbishop of Bhopal, I always thought I was not worthy, but was called. On the 14th of November, I am entering my 50th year as a priest. As a Bishop, I served 8 years in Khandwa and 14 years in Bhopal. Although it has been a satisfactory experience, there were many chall-enges all through that period. But the Lord has helped me to tide over them.
Abp. Leo Cornelio
