Kerala witnessed a deeply moving story of faith, courage and love in the life of Aalin Sherin Abraham, a 10-month-old baby girl from Mallappally in Pathanamthitta district. Aalin tragically lost her life following a road accident on February 5, 2026, near Pallam Borma junction on MC Road. She was first treated at hospitals in Changanassery and Thiruvalla before being shifted to Amrita Hospital for advanced care. Despite the best efforts of doctors, she was declared brain-dead on February 13.

Greater love has no one than this, to lay down one’s life for others.

In the midst of unimaginable grief, her parents, Arun Abraham and Sherin Ann John, made a courageous and faith-filled decision — they consented to donate their daughter’s organs. Through this selfless act, Aalin became the youngest organ donor in Kerala’s history. Her liver, kidneys, heart valve and corneas were donated, giving new life and hope to several recipients, including a six-month-old infant and a 10-year-old child.
The noble gesture received national attention when Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to the family during his radio programme Mann Ki Baat, praising their humanity and courage.

For Christians, Aalin’s story reflects the words of Jesus: “Greater love has no one than this, to lay down one’s life for others” (John 15:13). Even in death, this little child became a vessel of life. Her parents’ sacrifice stands as a testimony to Christ-like love — transforming sorrow into hope, and tragedy into a blessing for many families.
