The soldiers made Him carry a heavy wooden cross.
Jesus grew weak and tired. The cross was so heavy that
he fell to the ground several times on the way.
The soldiers grabbed a man named Simon and
made him carry the cross half way up the mountain.
When they finally got to Golgotha,
they nailed Jesus to the cross.
Two other criminals were crucified along with him.
Mary, who stood with John at the foot of the cross,
was devastated at the sight of her son’s death.
Jesus said, “Mother, here is your son.”
Looking at John, Jesus said,
“John, here is your mother.”
Jesus wanted His disciples to be
like children to His mother.
