Reading [Luke 15:3-7]

READING : Jesus told them this parable: Suppose one of you has a hundred sheep and loses one of them. Doesn’t he leave the ninety-nine in the open country and go after the lost sheep until he finds it? And when he finds it, he joyfully puts it on his shoulders and goes home. Then he calls his friends and neighbors together and says, ‘Rejoice with me; I have found my lost sheep.’ I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent (Luke 15:3-7).

REFLECTION : Jesus’ parable of the lost sheep speaks of a shepherd who leaves behind ninety-nine sheep to seek out the one that has strayed. This short but profound story reflects God’s unconditional love, His relentless pursuit of each individual, and the joy of restoration.

In today’s fast-paced world, many people struggle with feelings of unworthiness, loneliness, or rejection. The lost sheep represents those who feel disconnected-perhaps due to mistakes, mental health struggles, or simply feeling unseen. Jesus’ words remind us that every person matters, no one is forgotten, and we are never too lost to be found.

The shepherd in the parable actively seeks out the lost sheep instead of waiting for it to return. This challenges us to be more compassionate and proactive in our relationships. Whether it is reaching out to a struggling friend, forgiving someone, or helping those in need, we are called to reflect God’s love in action.

When the shepherd finds the lost sheep, he rejoices. This highlights that God’s response to repentance or healing is not anger but joy. In daily life, this can encourage us to celebrate personal growth rather than dwell on past mistakes. The Parable of the lost sheep is more than just a story of divine love; it speaks to our needs, human struggles, and the way we relate to others. It reminds us that we are deeply valued, encourages us to seek those who are struggling, and teaches us that God’s love is always greater than our failures. No one is ever too lost to be found.

PRAYER : Lord, we acknowledge that at times we wander away, caught up in distractions, temptations, and our own weaknesses. Yet, your mercy is greater than our failings, and your love calls us back to you. Like the lost sheep, we long to be found, carried upon your shoulders. Give us hearts that trust in your unfailing love. Help us to recognize your voice when you call us by name. When we are lost in doubt, fear, or sin, guide us back to your grace. May we never be afraid to return to you, knowing that in your presence, there is great joy and rejoicing. Teach us also, Lord, to be like you—to seek out those who have strayed, to show kindness and patience, and to reflect your love in a world that so often feels lost. May we never judge or condemn, but instead, extend the same mercy you have shown us. Amen

CONTEMPLATION : Find a quiet place, free from distractions. Take a deep breath, relax, and become aware of God’s presence. Close your eyes if you wish, and let your heart open to the words of Jesus in this parable. If you have ever felt lost, unworthy, or distant from God, hear the Shepherd’s voice calling your name. He has not forgotten you. He is coming to find you, to carry you home with joy. Speak honestly to God. Share your joys, fears, failures, and hopes. Ask Him to help you trust in His love and embrace His guidance. Now, in silence, rest in the loving embrace of the Shepherd. Imagine being carried on His shoulders, safe and secure. Feel His peace, forgiveness, and joy filling your heart. Let gratitude rise within you. Heaven rejoices over you! You are precious, beloved, and deeply cared for.

ACTION : Trust in God’s mercy even when we feel lost or unworthy.
Offering a listening ear without judgment to someone who feel lost and needs support.
