Carlo Acutis was born on May 3, 1991, in London. He was a cheerful boy who loved video games, computers, Nutella, and playing with friends. But most of all, Carlo loved Jesus. When he was just seven years old, he received his First Holy Communion and decided never to miss Mass. He called the Eucharist his “Highway to Heaven.” He prayed the rosary every day and went to confession regularly. Carlo often told his friends, “We become saints when we stay close to Jesus.”
Carlo was amazing with computers. At only 11 years old, he built a website to share Eucharistic miracles from all over the world. He wanted everyone to know that Jesus is alive in the Eucharist. Even though Carlo enjoyed technology, he didn’t waste time online. He used it to do good things and help people grow closer to God. He also cared for the poor, buying them sleeping bags and food with his pocket money. When Carlo was 15, he got very sick with leukemia. Instead of complaining, he offered his pain to God for the Pope and the Church. Carlo said, “I am happy to die because I lived my life without wasting even a minute doing things that don’t please God.”
On October 12, 2006, Carlo went to heaven. Today he is Saint Carlo Acutis, a young saint who shows us that holiness is possible — even for kids who play video games!
