Many years ago, astronauts from NASA travelled to the Moon during the Apollo missions. Now, a new adventure has taken place. The Artemis II mission has been completed, sending astronauts on a journey around the Moon and safely back to Earth.Artemis II is part of a bigger plan called the Artemis program. This programme aims to take humans back to the Moon, build bases there, and even prepare for future journeys to Mars. They flew far beyond Earth, seeing the Moon up close and watching our planet from deep space.
As the astronauts looked out into space, they saw something truly amazing—our small, blue Earth shining in the darkness. One commander, Reid Wiseman, said on return that he felt so moved that tears came to his eyes. Even though he said he was not a believer, he could not help but feel the marvel about it and the beauty of creation.

Space journeys can help us discover not only the stars, but also the wonder of God’s creation.

This reminds us of the famous Apollo 8 mission. When those astronauts saw Earth rising above the Moon, they read aloud from the Book of Genesis: “In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.” People all around the world listened, and many felt close to God in that moment.
The Artemis II mission shows us that space is not just about science. It can also help us think about God, creation, and our place in the universe. When we see how beautiful and delicate Earth is, we remember that it is a gift—a home given to us to care for. Space journeys can help us discover not only the stars, but also the wonder of God’s creation.
