Aishwarya Antony Thaliyath
This is my story,
Or the story you relate to.
Its starts with self,
Written and directed by the society
Question every uniqueness and
statement of yours,
Making one questionable to oneself.
I questioned me…
Standing in front of my dressing table
Closely staring at the mirror
Glancing at every…
PERFECTION,
Probably a lie…
Glancing at each of my
IMPERFECTION
The texture of my skin
Shape of my body
Strech marks marking womanhood
All that i am ashamed of, yet
Feel my skin
Layer beneath layer
The Self-love I left behind
Agnst threatening my existence.
Also men practicing Masculinity
Or to say “toxic masculinity”
Ripping off their emotional vulnerability
Sad but not allowed to cry
Stressed but not allowed to rant
Taught not to cry
But, practicing aggression is their ideal role
All portraying what they are not
All portraying what society sees them as
This is my story, or
The story you relate to,
It is pathetic
Trying to be the worst for myself
It is intimidated
To hunt for peace in boundary of limitations
It is shattering
To be in search for acceptance
It ruined every bit of me
To be vulnerable, confident, and
To BE MYSELF.
Thus, this is my story
Or yours
Trying to build one’s own society
But, suppressed by the societal norms.
