Q: Recently, the Supreme Court has ruled that adultery should not be considered a criminal offence, thereby affirming that man and woman are equal. Your comment?
A: We welcome the assertion that man and woman are considered equal before the law. It is also true that a woman is not the property of her husband. But I fear such judgments may jeopardize the moral system. Sexual freedom involves sexual responsibilities. Or else, it will lead to sexual licentiousness. Adultery is no more a criminal offence, but there is still scope for police to interfere in immoral trafficking. Law, especially criminal, law exists to protect the minimum standard of morality in a society. The venerable courts should not forget their social responsibilities.
