Vatican II declares: “In that Body [the Church] the life of Christ is poured into the believers who, through the sacraments, are united in a hidden and real way to Christ who suffered and was glorified. The historical Jesus had no idea what would happen to Him after His death. Could He have instituted the seven sacraments through which His disciples would share in His resurrection?
